چکیده

The Sacrum is important for body stability, attachment of the lower limbs and protection pelvic organs. This bone may be affected by congenital, degenerative or multifactorial pathologies. aim present study to analyze sacral lesions in a well-preserved sample remains Southern Patagonian hunter-gatherers possible influences temporal-spatial lifestyle variables, with special attention given effects Native-European contact. Pathological signs from 56 adult bones both sexes comprising broad chronological range (5200 years BP- 20th century), were analyzed following methodology proposed Campo (2003, 2015). Pathologies showed that native individuals who lived missionary areas presented higher prevalence than samples individuals, pre-contact post-contact, outside missions, except Schmörl nodes. age sex similar patterns respect other populations. A high spondylolysis was observed, similarly Inuit samples. Since classifying Spina Bifida Oculta -SBO- still lacks standardization, this work, we propose using same methods employed Kumar Tubbs (2011).

Isotopes and Rocks: Geographical Organisation of Southern Patagonian Hunter-Gatherers

We present an archaeological study of hunter-gatherer home ranges on the basis of two lines of evidence. Firstly, we discuss information related to the mobility of individuals, which was approached by stable isotope studies. Secondly, we present data related to the transport and discard of artefacts, since the distribution of these itemsmay be determined by the movement of people. Our main goal...

Cooperative breeding in South American hunter-gatherers.

Evolutionary researchers have recently suggested that pre-modern human societies habitually practised cooperative breeding and that this feature helps explain human prosocial tendencies. Despite circumstantial evidence that post-reproductive females and extra-pair males both provide resources required for successful reproduction by mated pairs, no study has yet provided details about the flow o...

Gut microbiome of the Hadza hunter-gatherers

Human gut microbiota directly influences health and provides an extra means of adaptive potential to different lifestyles. To explore variation in gut microbiota and to understand how these bacteria may have co-evolved with humans, here we investigate the phylogenetic diversity and metabolite production of the gut microbiota from a community of human hunter-gatherers, the Hadza of Tanzania. We ...
